Hello, I am on a weight loss plan (60 lbs. so far!). I currently have a bad case of plantar fasciitis in my left foot, but using heel inserts is helping. I would like to purchase a pair of those Skechers Shape Ups shoes. Would these shoes aggravate the condition? I have heard they are very comfortable.

The Skechers are a version of the MBT shoe that came out a few years ago.
I recently saw these advertised and I thought about giving them a try. (Because of the cost factor.)
So far though I have not found anything that really measures up to the MBT. But I think they are worth a shot if they feel comfortable when trying them on. With the MBTs I knew the second they were on my feet, that they were the shoe for me.
Here’s some info on the MBTs. (Massai Balance Trainers)
The MBT sell anywhere from $180.- 250.00 ( approx.) There’s a lot to them and have quite a history behind their creations. It’s worth looking up.
They come with a training CD for a reason. If you don’t wear them properly you wont’ get the full effect and could have other problems. (Little things that make a difference. Make sure your heel is all the way back in the shoe before tying. Don’t put any orthotics in the MBTs. And you need basically a good sense of balance. (Not so good for the elderly who may have age relate balance problems. Just my opinion.)
After extensive research to correct the foot problem you are speaking of, in addition to a few other issues, I purchased the MBT sneaker because I could no longer walk and I was desperate.
The MBT shoe worked for me. Not only did I lose weight and inches I did not have to have the operation scheduled,
I can tell you though, the knock off version from “Curves” that Avon sells does not come close in comparison to the MBTs.
Except for the cost, I was very happy with the MBT sneakers and less happy with the MBT leather sandals.
The MBT sneakers were light weight and easy to adjust with the tie strings. The sandals required more manual dexterity and strength to slide the leather through the adjustable clasp. It’s not the easy adjustment you get with a velcro closure. And sense feet may swell during the day, you have to be able to make quick adjustments.
So, I suggest that you consider the weight of the Skechers when considering them. Light is good. And the ease of adjusting.
Also try the MBTs if you can. Just to have something to compare the Skechers to. The MBTs run small. You can buy them on line for considerably less, at Zappo’s but you should actually get fitted first.
Look up the history of the MBTs. It’s quite fascinating.
Oh, one last thing, with the MBTs, you will not believe how fast you can walk wearing them. If the Skechers can provide the same speed that would be a plus for them.
Good luck.
regular calf stretches (actually 4 of them, nonweightbearing)) & deep tissue massage (to the arch & the achilles) will help your plantar fasciitis;; just that YOU have to work @ it to resolve the issue;; this CAN be fixed;; also increase your stride when you walk & try using arch supports with a gel heel rather than just a heel insert;; then you can actually wear ANY shoe you want;; but the fasciitis appeared for a reason, the reason is functional;; gotta treat it, & change the function & you’ll never see it again…good luck!!
